The instrumental duet of Vira Kalabska and Tetiana Radziwill of the Chair of Music at USPU gets another victory on their list in the international music contests.


The Polish town of Sanok of Subcarpathian Voivodeship held "Sanok 2014" XVIII International meeting of accordionists. Since 1994, the International Contest is the meeting place for the accordionists from all over the Europe every two years. The purpose of "meeting" is supporting the young talents, facilitating artistic exchange and teaching experience, promoting the contemporary original accordion and bayan music. The music performances were evaluated by Professors Richard Svatskevichus (Music Academy of Vilnius, Lithuania), Volodymyr Runchak (Music Academy of Kyiv, Ukraine), Mykola Sevryukov (Music Academy in Minsk, Belarus), Krzysztof Olchak (Music Academy in Gdansk, Poland), Joachim Pihura (Musical Academy in Katowice, Poland), Ph.D., Professors Elvira Slivkevich - Chisak (Lublin, Poland) and Pavlo Palyuh (University of Rzeszow, Poland), Dr. Petro Hololovych (Music Academy Katowice, Poland), a PhD student, Director of school of Music of 1 and 2 degrees Andrzej Smolyk (Sanok, Poland), MA, headmaster accordionist Mykola Petruk (Brno, Czech Republic). The jury was headed by Professor Bogdan Dovlash (Academy of Music in Lodz, Poland).

Among the participating countries there were Belarus, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Czech Republic. The participants from Ukraine in the "Soloists" category were Oleksandr Tonkonog (first place) and Mykola Sheremet, two students of the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music. Vira Kalabska and Tetiana Radziwill, the instrumental duet of the representatives of USPU (Chair of Music at the Arts and Pedagogics Department) who worthily presented our educational establishment in "Groups" category, won the title of the fourth degree Diploma).



Our instrumental duet was the best at the "Transcarpathian edelweiss - 2014" IX International Festival of Arts held in Uzhgorod. The musicians from all over Ukraine and abroad were taking part in it. Vira Kalabska and Tetiana Radziwill won the first place in this prestigious contest.
