May 9 is the Victory Day and the great day to honor the generations of the winners - those who had suffered under the Nazi and defended their homeland. They had been fighting for the victory. They wanted to make the Victory Parade in the streets of their native city. But many of them could not do that - they sacrificed their lives for the sake of their homeland. Thanks to them today we live in peace.

The University staff headed by Natalia Pobirchenko, the Rector, celebrated the Victory Day. At the grand meeting near the Obelisk of Glory the memory of the casualties of the World War II was honored with the flowers at the Obelisk.






And then the USPU delegation took part in the solemn meeting with representatives of the local authorities, the military people and community organizations of veterans of war and labor organized in the House of Culture in the city. At the festive concert that took place at the end of the meeting the audience was impressed by the ensembles of the University – the "Gonta" band with the participation of the Honored Workers of Ukrainian Culture, like Valentyn Kupchyk, Petro Voloshin and Vasyl Semenchuk, and the solo vocalists Olexandr Osadchiy and Vladimir Derenyuk were brilliant.

The 68th anniversary of the Victory will be celebrated till the evening. In the evening, the University students participating in the walk from the City House of Culture to the Obelisk of Glory holding the candles in their hands.
