The representatives of Nature and Geography Department at USPU - Svitlana Sovgira, Professor of chemistry, ecology and methods of teaching chemistry and ecology, Roman Podzerey, lecturer in chemistry, ecology and methods of teaching chemistry and ecology and graduate student Svitlana Lyulenko took part in the meeting of the International Association of Ecologists of the Universities and "Ecological approach to education as an imperative strategy for sustainable development" Environmental Forum which took place at the Sumy National Agrarian University under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Pedagogical University and the Institute of Ecology Economics and Law of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University.

The main purpose of the event is addressing the issues of leading activities of International Association of Ecologists of the Universities, discussing the strategic ways to improve the environmental education in Ukraine and Europe in the context of the imperative of sustainable development strategies, participating of International Association of Ecologists of the Universities in the “Environment of Ukraine 2014” International Ecological Forum. Speakers raised various issues regarding training environmental experts in higher education, the role of educational and extracurricular institutions in environmental education and education for the purpose of the so-called sustainable eco-enlightment. Anatoliy Tolstouhov, the counselor specifically authorized by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, academician of NAPS of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, and President of International Association of Ecologists of the Universities spoke about the main issues on the agenda.

Svitlana Sovgira, the Head of the Uman city unit, Professor was taking the floor. She presented comprehensive studies aimed at solving environmental problems by means of conservation work at the regional level. She was officially awarded the Certificate of the Head of the Uman city unit of the International Association of Ecologists of the Universities.

The reports of Roman Podzerey "Energy saving in educational institutions" and Svitlana Lyulenko "Environmental work as a means of preserving nature" were presented at the forum. On completion of the forum the participants received certificates confirming their participation in the environmental forum.
