"Think globally and act locally" environmental slogan has become well-known among the students of the Economics Department of our University. A lot of activities were initiated as part of the environmental education program. One of those activities was the "Environmental education is the key to the future" round table discussion recently held by the lecturers Yana Eney and Kateryna Zamulyanets of the Chair of Enterprise Economics, Finance, Accounting and Auditing together with Svitlana Sovgira, Professor of chemistry, ecology and methods of teaching.

Svitlana Sovgira told the students about the environment of Cherkasy Oblast focusing on those areas that she was able to visit with environmental groups. It is a concern that in the recent years the environmental protection has become the least sought by people. As a result, we are seeing the abandoned nature around and contaminated sources and various landfills. Unfortunately, people do not think that such a disastrous attitude to the nature damages the ecosystem.

Environmental education presumes the discovery of the natural world - the human habitat. And people should be interested in preserving the integrity, purity, harmony in nature and the ability to estimate the environmental conditions, to bring up a caring attitude to the nature.

The 1st year students of "Finance and Credit", "Business Economics", and "Accounting and Auditing" specialties were taking part in the discussion of the issues of environmental protection.

The roundtable was very helpful because the activities of this level allows the students to maintain the sense of duty and responsibility to preserve the environment, to encourage the nature saving and careful attitude to the nature.
