An international scientific and methodological seminar "European trends of professional training of modern teachers” took place in the Regional Centre of Foreign Languages at the Foreign Languages Department. The event dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Polish Cultural and Educational Center, brought together the representatives of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University and its Polish partner since 2005 - Plotsk Professional Education Institute.

The seminar participants were greeted by Larysa Tkachuk, the Vice-Rector of the University and Nadiya Brit, the Department Dean. They noted the dynamic changes in the Specialist training program enabled due to the harmonized development of the three integral parts of the so-called "knowledge triangle” - education, research and innovation.


The research, cultural and educational substructures of the University which have presented their activities promote the implementation of this idea. Kateryna Kuzan, the Head of Polish Cultural Center spoke about the achievements in the field of cooperation for the last five years. Liza Zabolotna, the graduate of Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities presented the Interdisciplinary Studies as a tool for training European teachers. Inna Osadchenko, Head of the new Polish-Ukrainian laboratory of didactics named after YA.-A. Comenius familiarized the audience with the research, cultural and educational activities of this international center in USPU.



Members of the Laboratory of foreign language teaching and the Laboratory of pedagogical comparavistics attending the seminar dwelled on the range of their scientific interests after Alla Hembaruk and Oksana Zabolotna, the Heads of those Laboratories, had outlined the characteristics of the substructures that acquired much experience in a series of defended theses, professional periodical publications and international initiatives, the latest of which was "School teacher of the new generation” project of the British Council in Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science.

The seminar was held in the European format of scientific events – the informational unit consisting of three poster presentations followed by the discussion unit. The issue of the further discussion was the presentation of Ewa Wishniewska, PhD, Vice-Rector Plotsk Professional Education Institute (Poland) "The Polish experience in training and professional growth of teachers” and Valentina Lozovetska, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Teacher of Ukraine, Chief Researcher of the Laboratory of professional training and education of the Institute of Vocational Education of the NAPS of Ukraine "Competence paradigm of the professional training of a modern expert." Inna Nesterenko, a lecturer of the Foreign Languages Department at USPU compared the features of professional training of the modern teacher in the context of the modernization of content of higher pedagogical education in Poland and Ukraine.

Reports and lively discussions were conducted in all the working languages ??of the International Seminar - Ukrainian, Polish and English. All the participants worked together to identify common problems and prospects of modern teacher training.
