Charity action “Arts for Peace”, which has been started at the university the last year, has been continued this year. On occasion of International Day of Dancing, celebrated all over the world on 29th of April, was held Dance marathon – 2016 “We are Ukrainians”. The event was organized by Choreography and Artistic Culture Chair (head – Lyudmyla Androshchuk), Culture and Leisure Activities Centre “Gaudeamus” (head – Lyudmyla Hekalyuk) and the university Student Council (head – Yevhenia Boroday).
In the dance marathon actively participated students of all structural subunits – teams of 11 departments and an institute:
“Swans of Ukraine” – Physics, Mathematics and Computer Sciences Department;
“Live” – Professional and Technology Education Department;
“Creative Generation” – Department of Arts;
“Nation’s Blossom” – Social and Psychology Education Department;
“Awakening” – Institute of Economics and Business Education;
“Generation of Future” – Physical Training Department;
“Ukrainian Beauty” – Ukrainian Philology Department;
“Heart’s Beating” – Pre-school and Correction Education Department;
“Treasures of Ukraine” – Foreign Languages Department;
“Adamantine” – Primary Education Department;
“Intrigue” – History Department;
“KIS-FM” (Beauty and Strength of Fine Youth) – Nature and Geography Department.
Future pedagogues, economists, engineers, psychologists, biologists, mathematicians, philologists, historians under the guidance of instructors – students of Department of Arts – prepared different dance compositions, united by one topic – patriotic. Dance marathon – 2016 “We are Ukrainians” was held in several stages. First stage – “Presentation” – each team presented themselves with the help of choreography flash mob.
The second stage – the main part of dance event – was interesting too. With the help of choreography students revealed character of Ukrainian people: penetrative, strong-willed, determined, unsubdued, strong, that is able to love and appreciate ancestor’s traditions. Dances by “White Swans” (team – “Swans of Ukraine”, PMCSD), “Mother” (team – “KIS-FM”, NGD) were agitating; compositions “Forest Song” (team – “Ukrainian Beauty, UPD), “Spring’s Love Breathe”, PTD), “Spring Fiesta” (team – “Intrigue” HD), etc.
Very large-scaled and grand was a final stage of dance marathon. The audience did a storm of applause.
In the end of the event, a head of trade union committee, assistant professor Oleksandr Osadchiy delivered each team diplomas of gratitude participants in charity action “Arts for Peace” and a sweet present. All the participants of the marathon are awarded by diplomas and souvenirs.
The action “Arts for Peace”, dance marathon “We are Ukrainians” pursued charity aim – collection of money for our fellow countryman Yuriy Sukharev. In 2014 before going to the front, he had been a volunteer and actively helped fighters at the forefront, mixed his main job with activity at initiative movement “Front’s Protection”. In the beginning of 2015 he became a soldier in 14th mechanized brigade of Armed Forces of Ukraine. At about a year he has been to Maryinka. He hasn’t been wound, but he became ill of an insidious disease – cancer. Now Yuriy is fighting against the oncologic disease at Spizhenko Kyiv Clinics. A story and a video about the fighter amazed and touched all the present. Costs, gathered from dance marathon, will be handed in to a representative of volunteer organization “Razom (together)” that expressed its gratitude for a nice event and those who joined charity.
