At USPU began its work 2-days International Scientific and Practical Conference “Pavlo Tychyna crucifixion on the cross of fame” (dedicated to 120th anniversary from birth of the Poet).

On the first day was held a plenary meeting, which was open by pro-rector in scientific work Vladylena Sokyrska. On behalf of rector, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor Oleksandr Besludniy, she welcomed the participants and mentioned about role of Pavlo Tychyna for Ukrainian literature and in particular for our university. The university was named after Pavlo Tychyna the year of the poet’s death and had danger of breaking up and closure, but it hold out.

To honour the poet’s name came honourable people – head of Taras Shevchenko Institute of NAPS of Ukraine Mykola Zhulynskiy, Ukrainian poet, translator, film writer and playwright Ivan Drach, specialist in literature, deputy head of Shevchenko Institute of NAPS of Ukraine in scientific and publishing work Serhiy Halchenko.

On behalf of the meeting Ukrainian Philology Department students Katarina Zachepa and Ihor Nikolich laid down a basket with flowers to the bust of Pavlo Tychyna.

Ivan Drach in his speech “My Pavlo Tychyna” shared his recollections about first meeting with the poet, their further relations and witty sayings by Pavlo Hryhorovych.

“You should, - began Ivan Drach his speech to students, - take as much good from this world to your spirit, as possible. You have a pattern to be proud of, as you study at the university named after Tychyna. You have a protecting wing of Pavlo Tychyna!”

After this, the Laureate of Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine presented his poetry.

Specialist in literature Serhiy Halchenko made his speech “Diversity of Pavlo Tychyna’s genius”, which was very interesting too. As a compiler of Pavlo Tychyna’s issues and archives, he impressed the philologists and the audience by unknown facts.

In the end of the conference was held rewarding of winners in the competition of essays, titled “Good afternoon, mu Ukraine!” (what does patriotism and love to Motherland mean for me), dedicated to 125th anniversary from birth of Pavlo Tychyna.

The best present for winners was there rewarding by Serhiy Halchenko, who handed in certificate for III place to Daria Riabokon (History Department), Aliona Tsybulko (Ukrainian Philology Department; by Mykola Zhulynskiy for II place to Natalia Holiaka (Ukrainian Philology Department); by Ivan Drach for I place to Lyudmyla Kozoriz (Foreign Languages Department).

The plenary meeting was ended by music and poetic accord, called “Tychynivskiy”. The song “Blossom in my heart”, written by Pavlo Tychyna (author of the music – Vasyl Semenchuk), performed trio “Gonta”.

As a conclusion – the topic of the conference “Pavlo Tychyna crucifixion on the cross of fame” became clear to everybody. Pavlo Tychyna became closer to us.
