At USPU was held a presentation of II book “Chornobyl heroes are here” by representatives of Uman city organization “Chornobyl-Union of Ukraine”, dedicated to 30th anniversary of a terrible technological disaster.

Pro-rector in scientific and pedagogical work, candidate of pedagogical sciences Olena Kirdan welcomed guests (participants in liquidation of the Chornobyl disaster, veterans, representatives from community organizations, benefactors) on behalf of rector, professor Oleksandr Besludniy, honoured people, who gave their lives for protecting humanity from radiation. Participants in liquidation of the Chornobyl disaster put at stake their health and life for the sake of millions peoples.

Olena Leonidivna appealed to lecturers, students and workers of the scientific library to commemorate the heroes, who were working for protecting the whole world. The statistics of the disaster is sad – among the victims were not only participants in liquidation of the Chornobyl disaster, but also the rest of population in the area. All the present at the event commemorated them with a minute of silence.

The relay baton takes the youth. Students were reading poems, dedicated to Chornobyl.

Their speeches made: head of Uman city organization “Chornobyl-Union of Ukraine”, colonel in retirement Yuriy Berezovskiy; the disaster’s liquidator of I category Mykola Polivoda; head of city regional organization of soldiers-internationalists, major of reserve, participant in Afghanistan war Oleh Zaichenko; the disaster’s liquidator of I category, colonel of interior services in retirement Petro Mykolyuk; head of Uman city Veteran’s Council Oleksandr Bezsmertniy; head of Veteran’s Organization, colonel in retirement, head of Journalists Union of Ukraine Mykola Besarab – they told a terrible truth about Chornobyl.

The second part of the book “Chornobyl heroes are here” – is a collective set of stories about our fellow countrymen and their stories on participation in liquidation the consequences of the biggest and the most terrible technological disaster - the Chornobyl disaster. The authors shared their memories on alarming events for Ukraine, and the whole world in general. In the liquidation participated at about 700 thousand people, more than a half were Ukrainians.

Head of Uman city organization “Chornobyl-Union of Ukraine”, colonel in retirement Yuriy Berezovskiy presented books from writers of the new issue to veterans, activists of community organizations, USPU representatives; he also handed in honorary diploma to USPU rector Oleksandr Besludniy for collaboration, active community position and patriotic education of new generation.

Chornobyl is pain, which we will feel up to the end of our lives. It’s a tragedy, equal to a war or famishment.
