On the basis of Social and Psychological Education Depertment was held an Open Doors Day for youth with special needs.

The event was open by dean of the department, candidate of pedagogical sciences Oksana Kravchenko. She was talking about university’s achievements, educational, scientific and international activity of the educational establishment. Oksana Oleksiivna has pointed out advantages and perspectives of studying at USPU, saying that the university offers for youth with special needs distance learning both at day and correspondence course.

An important moment of the meeting was a speech, made by Oleksandr Hrusha – head of the department of student accounting and job placement; he cleared up some statutes of Admission Rules, in particular peculiarities of admission without competition. According to 2015 Admission Rules and valid legislation (Law of Ukraine “On principles of disabled people in Ukraine social protection”) right for the admission without competition have I and II group disabled people younger than 18, who don’t have restrictions in chosen specialty. The amount of places of people who have right for admission without competition comprises 20 % of state order. Enrolment of such category of people in the framework of quota is held according to competition grade of the entrant. If university entrants belong to the above mentioned category fail to enter the university without competition, they have right to take part in competition according to general rules and competition grade. III group disabled entrants have a right for admission out of turn. Students with special needs receive both academic and social scholarship.

Members of carreer guidance meeting – deputy dean in career guidance work Svitlana Zaets and deputy dean in educational work Tetyana Filatova told about professions of social pedagogue, practical psychologist, social worker, which are prepared at Social and Psychological Education Department and under conditions of distance learning.

About social and pedagogical support of students with special needs and social accompaniment of USPU first-year students told deputy dean in information and communication provision, coordinator of Social and educational integration centre “Without barriers” Maya Perfilieva and coordinator of Student social and psychological service Alvina Polushyna. Information on attraction of students with special needs to social and charity actions, excursions, competitions, creative festivals was followed by photo and video materials.

Open Doors Day was prolonged by practical part of the event. Forth-year student in specialty “Social Pedagogy” Alyona Zavalko conducted psychological trainings that gave an opportunity for young people to get acquainted over tea, tell about themselves and communicate. In the end of the event a traditional lottery was conducted; each participant received a small souvenir.

The event testified that creating conditions for equal access to education, attrection disabled youth to student full value life is an important activity of USPU.
