According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine № 257/2012 "The additional advances of celebrating the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko", supported by the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, the Regional Council and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, on the 12th of June, 2013 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued order № 437-p "On establishment of Kaniv Institute of Humanities of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University " on the basis of Kaniv School of Culture and Arts.

Also, the Cabinet of Ministers passed the resolution to transfer the entire property of Kaniv School of Culture and Arts of Cherkasy Regional Council into the state ownership from the 1st January 2014, and to assign it to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The newly founded Kaniv Institute of Humanities of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University will offer Bachelor Degrees in "Music Art", "Fine Arts", "Dancing", "Bibliology, Library study and Bibliography." It is going to be short term training for "Junior Specialist", and the current year’s graduates of Kaniv School of Culture and Arts will be enrolled.

The foundation of a higher educational establishment specializing in humanities in Kaniv will be another step towards a due respect for Taras Shevchenko - the national genius of Ukraine. It is also the development of modern scientific, educational, cultural and artistic infrastructure in the city that has become a sort of Mecca for Ukrainians from all over the world.
