A Book in the Library Week Summing Up
By the USPU scientific library with the aim of estimating the level of books necessity in the life of a person was held the week of a book at which thematic expositions “Read in journals and newspapers about everything interesting on the planet!” (reading room 1), “Library… heart sinks” (reading room 2).
The open literature reviews under the titles “Through pages of retroperiodicals” were organized. Among the issues were scientific and abstract journals of XX c. (e.g. “Applied Botany works”, 1932; “Botany journal”, 1949) which were preserved in the scientific library funds.
The vivid interest of students and teachers was caused by rare issues exposition in different branches of science under the title “100 years old book”, where books issued more than 100 years ago were presented.
From this September the scientific library announced about the photo competition under the title “I am in the library”. It lasted until September, 26 and was aimed at positive image of libraries formation; representation of the library as social and cultural, informative and communicative centre; free access to information.
The winners awarding was held before Library Day. Among the criteria of winners defining were the best readers, photographers who love and read books. 20 representatives of different departments (Ukrainian Philology Department, Arts and Pedagogics Department, Social and Psychological Education Department, Physical Training Department, Department of Economics and Technology and Pedagogics Department) took part in the competition. Our readers have the possibility to review their works in the page of USPU scientific library group at social website vkontakte. The winners are: 1st place – Anna Snisarevska and Iryna Kucheriava (Ukrainian Philology Department); 2nd place – Viktoria Koval (Social and Psychological Education Department); 3rd place – Nataliya Kostryga (Arts and Pedagogics Department).
The winners got sweets as the presents. The organizers thanked everybody on their participation and asked to read books, take photos and enjoy life! The organizers were grateful to Marichka Fedoriv (Historical Department) on her songs performances: “Under the cherry, under the sweet cherry” and “About Ukraine”.
The separate gratitude was expressed to directors of the action, students of Social and Psychological Education Department Roman Datsko and Olena Ustymenko.
During the winners award there was presented information about library quiz “USPU Scientific Library History”.
In the end the librarians were congratulated. Natural Sciences and Geography Department organized flesh-mob in the yard of the university (organizer – dean’s assistant in educational work Galyna Drozdenko). The best congratulations were expressed by university administration, stident council, local trade union committee and the other university employees.
The librarians started a new competition “The best reader of the year”, which would be finished in May, 2015 and organized shelf “Bookcrossing” in the university hostel. The employees aimed at self-development and carrying out their mission: to serve society and satisfy its educational needs.
