The public event - a discussion on topic “Why multinational approach to the historical past of Ukraine is important” and a presentation of the Ukrainian-Canadian book "Jews and Ukrainians: Millennium of Coexistence" was held at Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University.

The event became possible with the support of the Canadian Charitable Foundation "Ukrainian-Jewish Meeting" (UJE).

Professor Natalia Kolyada and the head of the supervisory board of the University, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl Kostytskyi addressed to the guests and presenters with a welcoming speech.

The head of the Department of History of Ukraine, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Tetyana Kuznets, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of World History and Training Metods Igor Kryvosheya, the Head of Practical Linguistics Department, Ph.D., Professor, Director of the Ukrainian-Israeli Education Center Natalia Tsymbal and the head of the Ukrainian representative office UJE Vladyslav Grynevych took part in the discussion.

“The book can be the first step towards an in-depth study of the cultures of Ukrainian and Jewish people and help to overcome the biased stereotypes that obscure the relations of these people. Regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation, we all need to maintain a "healthy" relationship, and in any situation, first of all, to remain human beings” - said the co-author of the book, professor of history and political science at the University of Toronto, Paul Robert Magocsi.

After the event, the participants of the discussion were presented the book "Jews and Ukrainian: Millennium coexistence" with the signature of co-author Paul Robert Magocsi.
