HIV and AIDS problem is quite relevant in Ukraine. According to statistics, there are many people who suffer from this disease even in our city. But people usually do not pay attention to the reality and urgency of this problem, and sick people are treated as "outcasts" of society. In order to inform people on this subject, the students of Social and Psychological Education Department together with volunteers of University Social and Psychological Service organized the campaign "We are for health" and "Light a Candle".

On November 29, students conducted the campaign "We are for health" in the lobby of the new building. The program of the event included health promotion, distribution of red ribbons (a symbol of struggle with the disease), balloons with slogans and contraception means. This was accompanied by a lecture describing what AIDS is and how it can be avoided.

On November 30, "Light a Candle" action was conducted together with the Center of Children, Youth and Family Affairs and activists from around the city. City passersby were given literature on HIV and AIDS, and contraceptives free of charge, and at dusk all the action's participants lit the lamps and covered them in a red ribbon - the symbol of the event.

Volunteers explained to passersby about AIDS, the ways of transmission of infection and how to prevent this disease, where to go for advice and help. Communication between volunteers and citizens resulted in beautiful and emotionally powerful event - striking hundreds of colored candles.
