The scientific and publishing activity of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University is focused on the implementation of state policy in the field of education, aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the university in research.

To assess the results of scientific activities of the University lecturers we use scientometrics - area of research that studies the cognitive communication in science by the frequency of citations of scientific papers and their authors. Scientometric databases have the objective to research the publication activities and authors' citation.

The following University journals are included into Index Copernicus database: "Proceedings of Uman State Pedagogical University", "Problems of Modern Teacher Training", "Psychological and Pedagogical Problems of Rural Schools" and "History and Pedagogical Almanac", and scientific and educational journal "Studies in Comparative Education" increased its impact factor in the database (from 53.95 in 2014 to 55.60 in 2015).

We should pay mach attention to the further promotion of the University journals, its including into the international scientometric databases, as in the context of current training requirements such journals become an essential condition for the further development of the university.
