On January 28, the Academic Council heard a report on the scientific work of the University presented by Vice-Rector (Scientific work), Assoc. Prof. Larysa Tkachuk.
The research work at the university was focused on achieving national standards of quality of scientific and pedagogical staff training, scientific support of studying, the formation and development of scientific schools, supporting of the university image as an important regional research center.
The scientists performed 4 fundamental scientific research works (2 completed), 6 applied research works (2 completed) - at the expense of the state budget, and 1 economic contractual research work.
The University lecturers received 2 patents according to the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Rights to Inventions and Useful Models" and filed an application to the State Institute of Industrial Property for patent receiving.
Intellectual Property Department received 75 applications for registration of copyright objects, among them 65 are given to the Registration Department of Ukrainian State Intellectual Property Service. University lecturers received 55 safe documents (certificates) for scientific publications.
123 lecturers' articles (30 articles more than last year) were published in foreign journals, 9 articles (3 times more than last year) were issued in publications with impact factor.
According to the rating of scientometric base SCOPUS the University takes the 43-rd position among 104 universities in Ukraine by the number of citations of university scientists' publications by the world scientific community (57 publications in SCOPUS, number of citations - 179, index of Hirsch - 8).
16 issues of 5 University special editions were published.
2245 articles of various forms, including 47 monographs, 9 textbooks (including 4 with seal of MES), 374 manuals (including 41 classified by MES), 206 guidelines, 987 articles and over 600 abstracts were published.
14 international and 39 All-Ukrainian conferences, 56 scientific workshops were conducted by the University.
Doctoral studies of three specialties functions at the University. One specialty (01.02.04 - mechanics of deformable body) was started in 2012.
Preparation of scientific and pedagogical staff through postgraduate study was carried out in 15 specialties, including specialty 19.00.07 - Developmental and Educational Psychology opened during the reporting year.
4 doctoral and 28 Ph.D's theses were successfully defended.
23 theses (including 10 by the University lecturers) were defended in the University Specialized Academic Council.
15 university lecturers received an academic rank of assistant professor.
About 4 thousand students were involved in 297 research groups.
1204 articles were published by the University students. 26 university collections of student papers were also published.
University was the base for "Political Science" discipline competition, the second stage of XIII International Competition in the Ukrainian language, literature and teaching methods named after Petro Yatsyk, II Phase of III International Language and Literature Competition named after Taras Shevchenko.
The university conducted 4 international and 6 All-Ukrainian student scientific conferences and seminars.
17 students were the winners of II tour of All-Ukrainian contest of student research works on natural, technical and humanitarian sciences and won 3 first, 3 second, 11 third prizes.
Students won 3 second prizes, 4 third prizes in the second stage of All-Ukrainian student competition on studying disciplines and specialties.
The spectrum of academic contests and competitions where the University students participated and won prizes became wider. In particular, the contest "Teacher profession sounds proud" held by MES, Youth and Sports of Ukraine (two diplomas of the first degree), IV International contest on Ukrainology for students and young scientists (I place), ІІІ International linguistic and literary competition named after Taras Shevchenko (I and ІІІ places), Regional Business Plan Competition (I, II, III places), the First All-Ukrainian student tournament on history (ІІІ place), the international historic competition "1812 and Ukraine" (I place), the regional stage of XIII International Competition on Ukrainian language named after Petro Yatsyk (I place) are among them.
21 Uman pupils won the regional contest of pupils' research works under the guidance of the university scientists.
