On Friday, August 17, USPU delegation headed by the rector prof. Nataliya Pobirchenko took part in Uman region celebration of the Independence Day and the traditional harvest festival.

Celebration, took place in Palanka village with the participation of the distinguished guests - head of Cherkasy Regional Council Valeriy Chernyak, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Anton Yatsenko, members of the Regional Council Gennadiy Granovskyi, Anatoliy Lipkan, Inna Dobryanska, Uman Mayor Yuryi Bodrov and others.

District State administration head Anatoliy Petrenko and head of District Council Sergiy Kulibaba together with respectable guests laid flowers at the monument to the villagers who had died during the Great Patriotic War.

An improvised "Ukrainian Fair", theatrical performance, performances of folk teams, arts and crafts exhibition were also presented during the celebration. Great interest was aroused around Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University exposition. Its leading idea was a revival of national traditions and art of historical Uman region.

Ceremony of best regional employees rewarding, concert program with participation of People's Artist of Ukraine Nina Matviyenko and the choir of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, demonstration jumping of parachutists were also held during the celebration. The celebration ended with bright fireworks.
