The fifth MCO webinar based on the partnership with the Global Student Forum with the topic “Involving students effectively – what happens and how it improves universities: international perspectives” was held virtually on April 19 at 6:00 pm. 160 representatives from 71 countries participated in this event.Teachers, students and academic staff of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University joined the webinar.

The webinar began with an Introductory word of the moderator Caroline Sundberg, former Vice President, European Students’ Union (ESU)&Member of the Governing Council of the Magna Charta Observatory, Sweden. Speakers were: Peter Kwasi Kodjie, Secretary General of the All-Africa Students Union & Member (elect) of the Governing Council of the Magna Charta Observatory, Ghana with introducing word about “The Global Student Forum (GSF)” ; Alexandra da Silva, Student Rector, Queen’s University , Canada with presentation on “Recognizing and Responding to Every Form of Student Engagement”.

On Governance failures and student protests at the case of #FeesMustFall reported: Thierry Luescher, Research Director for Post-Schooling and Work, Inclusive Economic Development Division, Human Sciences Research Council, South Africa and Seipati Mokhema, Junior Researcher, Human Sciences Research Council, South Africa.

Sofia Barahona Mena, Research Fellow, Red de Estudios para la Profundización Democrática (RED), Chile, covered an interesting topic “The fight for democracy in Chilean universities: the case of PUC Chile”.

During the online meeting, participants had the opportunity to write questions to the speakers in comments in the Q&A section on the role of students in university life, their rights and prospects, to which they received comprehensive answers at the end of the presentation.
