Within the framework of the cooperation agreement with the Magna Charta Universitatum, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Strategic Development Volodymyr Mykolaiko represented Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University at an online conference dedicated to the signing of the renewed Magna Charta Universitatum 2020 agreement.

In 1988, 388 rectors, mostly from European universities, gathered in Bologna to sign the Magna Charta Universitatum: this document sets out the fundamental principles that should guide universities to ensure the development of education and the innovative movement in a rapidly changing world. The aim of the MCU was to celebrate the most important values of university traditions and to promote close links between European universities.

The number of members of the MCU has increased over the last decade, leading to the need to develop a new version of the document that will address the challenges facing our rapidly changing world and take into account the global perspective.

Therefore, a new project "Living Values" was developed, which will allow universities to review their values, identify guiding principles that will guide them by means of their strategy and behavior.

On June 16-17, 2021, the new Magna Charta document (MCU 2020) was signed for the first time. Due to the pandemic, the celebrations on this occasion were held in an online format. All MCU members (both current and new, including Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University) signed a new version of the document in electronic form, and the fact of signing was noted during the online conference.
