Defence of folk-lore and ethnographic practices of students of II-III courses of Ukrainian philology department was carried out on December, 8, 2011.


The Traditionally everyday culture of Uman district, which was created during ages, needs careful and comprehensive research, systematization, treatment. Maintenance revival and popularization of national cultural legacy is guided by administration of the university in the person of its rector Pobirchenko Natalia Semenivni, and also a head of Ukrainian literature and science of Ukraine chair, professor Sivachuk Natalia and employees of the laboratory "Ethnology of the Cherkassy region" Yovenko L. I., Tereshko I. G., Goncharuk V.I., Semenchuk V. V., Mamchur N. V., Tsyganok O. O. and others.


Folk-lore ethnographic practice occupies an important place in preparation of students-philologists. Exactly during practice students undertake the first independent steps on the field of specialist in folk-lore, expose for themselves the specific of living folk-lore process, study practically to apply the obtained theoretical knowledges, gradually acquire a necessity for future professional activity of experience of ethnographic for a specialist in folk-lore work in the field conditions.

Practice was conducted in expeditionary method, which allows better learn history, folk-lore, cultural and welfare features of concrete village, familiarize with his historical sights and transmitters of folk creation.

In summer 2011 the teachers of Ukrainian literature and science of Ukraine together with students conducted the field researches in the villages of historical Uman district: Timoshivka and Molodetske villages of Mankivka district, Kolodiste village of Talne district, Ladizhinka village of Uman district, Lischynivka and Talalaivka villages of Khristinivka district, Okhmativ village of Zhashkiv district.

History of villages was investigated (names of corners, forests, quantity and national composition of village population, handicraft and trades, traditional court and habitation). Collected 28 towels, 22 clay wares.

Information is written about celebration of calendar holidays - Christmas, Saint Supper, Saint resurrection, Ivana Kupala. Ceremonies are described: maternity, weddings and funerals, recorded a 43 christmas carol, 39 schedrivok, 19 lullabies, 6 children games, 8 folk dances, 168 songs of different genres.


Rigorisms which modern science pulls out to documenting folk-lore ethnographic materials, a permanent improvement and complication of technique and method of field expeditionary work determine the proper level of organization and carrying out student practices of folk-lore. At initiative of leader of research laboratory "Ethnology of the Cherkassy region" professor Sivachuk Natalia and by its members, was created an archive, which contains 12 345 cards.

As a result of practice educational metodic manuals were published, an exhibition is designed.

Among the guests of action is a folk folk-lore amateur collective "Sofiya", trio "Gonta", exemplary children folk-lore collective "Vesnyanka" of Talne comprehensive school of I-III of degrees №1- gymnasium".
