Studying at the University is a complicated and multifaceted process of adaptation, including active adaptation to new conditions of life, an inclusion to a new kind of activity and new social environment. At first freshmen feel a bit embarrassed in a new place, among unknown people. And an educational institution is concerned about an appropriate joining of new members to students' community.

USPU sincerely met the new students. On the second day after the solemn Initiation into students, freshmen of all departments spent the day of acquaintance and adaptive trainings. Somebody spent the day in nature, or in museums, somebody made the tour around the city, exploring its sights. In general a whole day was full of activities and diverse, in warm friendly atmosphere.

DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EDUCATION

  • On August 31, the meeting with the freshmen on organizational issues solution was held on the occasion of the new academic year beginning. The first curator's time took place, where the monitors of academic groups were elected, and the students are got acquainted with the University and Department's infrastructure, and with the features of the educational process.
  • The all-university "Initiation into freshmen" and the excursion to "Sofiyivka" park were celebrated on the 1st of September.
  • The next day the freshman accompanied by the department administration, curators, volunteers of Students' social and psychological service, group mates of senior years had the trip to the Bilogrudivka forest. The programme was exciting and eventful: presentation of the groups, psychological trainings, sports and, of course, the traditional cooking of porridge.
  • All participants received a lot of positive emotions, and had rallied not only within a group but also within a family - the students of Social and psychological education department.




    DEPARTMENT OF RELATED PROFESSIONS

    On the 2nd of September the freshmen of Department of related professions had a trip to the Bilogrudivka forest. The trip was organized in order to create a positive atmosphere in the team and establish relationships between students. The program included sports, games, competitions, acquainting trainings and preparation of a delicious dinner. Students and lecturers had received positive feedback from the time spent in the fabulous atmosphere of the forest.






    TECHNOLOGY AND PEDAGOGICS DEPARTMENT

    In the new academic year, Technology and Pedagogics Department welcomed the students from many regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsya, Kirovograd, Ivano-Frankivsk and Volyn. The department has prepared a series of events for them. The first year students were acquainted with Uman history and its sights and shown the historical film "Milestones of Uman history" by Ph.D (History), associate professor Igor I. Kryvosheya.

    The next step was a trip to the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Trypillya culture" in Legedzyno village Talne district. The excursion began with a visit to the excavations of Trypillya housing, had held by the museum director Vladyslav V. Chabanyuk.

    After visiting the excavations students had visited the Museum of Trypillya. They enthusiastically listened to the story and looked through exhibits. All students had an opportunity to be fully immersed in the history of the Ukrainian people.

    Students were impressed by what they had seen, because they could see with their own eyes what they had studied during history lessons at school.




    ARTS AND PEDAGOGICS DEPARTMENT

    On September 2, the freshmen of the Department headed by the group curator, lecturer of Music Arts Chair Lyudmyla G. Yatlo had visited the exhibition of Yuriy Melnychuk on Ukrainian embroidery and dolls in folk costumes in the art gallery of the city.




    ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT

    On September 2, 2012 the freshmen of Economics Department together with the curators made a sightseeing trip to historical and cultural places of Uman.

    The purpose of the trip was to acquaint students with social, economic and cultural development of the picturesque city from its foundation to the beginning of the 21st century. The excursion was conducted by research worker of museum of regional ethnography Vladyslav M. Davydyuk. The excursion aroused a keen interest to architectural monuments, contributed to the spiritual education and formation of aesthetic views and tastes.
